The original installation was exhibited by Another Space at Invergordon Arts Centre during the Highland Festival in 1998 and focussed on digital references to an RAF Tornado pilot at Lossiemouth and included actual debris and museum artefacts from aircraft history.

Artists involved: Trevor Avery, Nigel Mullen, Mairi Sutherland.
In association with the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune. Supported by Scottish Arts Council, Ross and Cromarty Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Highland Council.

In April 2005 a further exhibition entitled ‘In Defiance of Gravity’ opened at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal. Curated by historian Allan King and artist Trevor Avery, the exhibition exhibited a collection of historical photographs of the Sunderland Flying Boat factory that once stood on the shores of Windermere and the nearby settlement that housed its workers at Calgarth.
This latter project was further developed into ‘Flying Boats and Fellow Travellers’.
